Its not unusual for Luarens primary teachers to come to get me at some point to help Lauren. This Sunday they came to get me to let me know Lauren had swallowed a toy. We always give Lauren a couple on small toys to hold in her hand. It distracts her, keeps her hands busy and helps her be more calm, she has never put one of these toys in her mouth so we have never been worried about her choking on one.
BUT, there's a first time for everything.
She was ok. They said she had been doing really well and then decided to lay down on the floor and after a minute she was coughing and really upset and grabbing her throat. They said they looked for the toy but couldn't find it so they were sure that is what she swallowed. When I got to her so was just upset but breathing fine.
We rounded up the family and dropped Aliyah off at the Johnson's (thank you thank you thank you) and headed to the Instacare. We got there and I was pretty sure they would send us to the ER, which they did. So back to the dreaded ER for Lauren. she did really good. The triage nurse was not so great but Kristy Leany was her nurse and she went to school with me.
After an Xray Dr Bonomo showed me what she thought was probably the toy and consulted with Dr Kadu. We laughed at the Xray, of coarse we couldn't see Pascal, he's a chameleon he's supposed to blend in.
So we were discharged with orders to hunt through poop till we find Pascal. OH YEAH!! That should be so fun. It has no time table as to when he might make his appearance but if we find nothing in 2 weeks we will do a follow up Xray to see if it is stuck in her tummy. Until then here's to the beginning of a treasure hunt.
